CIFF to Screen Oscar-Nominated Shorts Over Two Weekends in February

Adam Manery | CIFF Oscar Shorts | Press release from the Calgary International Film Festival
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 2025 Oscar® nominations. Films that premiered or screened at the 2024 Calgary International Film Festival — showcased through CIFF’s year-round First Look program — earned an impressive 41 nominations across numerous categories. To celebrate those achievements and give Calgary audiences the opportunity to see many of the nominated shorts on the big screen, CIFF will present three Oscar®-Nominated Shorts packages at Globe Cinema across two consecutive weekends in February 2025.
The screening dates are Friday, February 14 through Sunday, February 16, and Friday, February 21 through Sunday, February 23, 2025. Each curated programme groups the nominated shorts by format — Animated, Live Action, and Documentary — and will be shown multiple times to provide flexibility for viewers. CIFF’s Lead Shorts Programmer, Adam Keresztes, notes that Oscar Shorts weekend is an ideal way for film fans to complete their Oscar viewing lists and discover standout short films that might otherwise be missed on streaming platforms or in festival lineups.
