92nd Academy Awards (Oscars 2020) — Winners and Highlights
The 92nd Annual Academy Awards were held live at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, 9 February 2020. The ceremony celebrated the year’s standout films, with Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite and Sam Mendes’ 1917 claiming many of the evening’s top honors. Parasite was the night’s big winner, taking home Best Picture, Best Director and Original Screenplay and making history as the first international (non-English language) film to win Best Picture.
The evening also featured memorable moments outside the awards themselves: a surprise performance by Eminem of “Lose Yourself” from his film 8 Mile and a moving acceptance speech from Best Actor winner Joaquin Phoenix, who became emotional when he paid tribute to his late brother River Phoenix.
