33rd European Film Awards (2020) — Winners and Highlights
The 33rd annual European Film Awards were presented live from Berlin, Germany on Saturday, 12 December 2020. Hosted by German television presenter Steven Gätjen, the ceremony adapted to the pandemic-era conditions: originally scheduled for Reykjavík, Iceland, it took place in a Berlin studio while nominees and participants joined remotely by video. The Danish drama Another Round, directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Mads Mikkelsen, dominated the ceremony’s most prestigious categories.

Another Round (Druk) led the field on the night, collecting awards for European Film, European Director and European Screenwriter (shared by Thomas Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm), as well as European Actor for Mads Mikkelsen. Other films that figured prominently among nominees included Corpus Christi, Martin Eden, Undine, Berlin Alexanderplatz and The Painted Bird.
